Founder
Gems (or gemstones) are naturally occurring minerals — and in rare cases organic materials — that are valued for their beauty, rarity, durability and cultural significance.
They are formed deep within the earth over millions of years under intense heat and pressure, or through geological processes such as volcanic activity and crystal growth in rock cavities.
Gems are mined from specific regions around the world — each location giving stones subtle differences in colour, clarity and character. This sense of place is part of what makes gems so special.
Gems are considered a portable, tangible store of value. Unlike trends or currencies, fine gemstones:
•Are finite (no new natural supply can be created)
•Hold value across generations
•Are easy to store and transport
•Can be worn and enjoyed while retaining worth
Investment-grade gems typically include:
•Diamonds (especially natural, untreated)
•Ruby
•Sapphire
•Emerald
•Spinel (in certain colours)
•Alexandrite
These gems are sought after globally and have a long history of value retention.
• Investment gems are chosen primarily for rarity, quality, and market demand. They are usually untreated or minimally treated, with strong documentation.
•Collectible gems are chosen for beauty, uniqueness, colour or personal meaning. They may be rarer in appearance but not necessarily traded as financial assets.
Both are valuable — they simply serve different purposes. Many clients choose a blend of both.
Yes — gemstones have real, measurable value.
Value is determined by:
•Rarity
•Colour
•Clarity
•Cut
•Carat weight
•Origin
•Treatment status
•Market demand
Professional gemologists, global trade benchmarks, auction results and certification all contribute to how value is assessed.
The “best” gems depend on your intention:
•For long-term value: Diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds
•For rarity and growth potential: Spinel, alexandrite, tourmaline (Paraíba)
•For personal collections: Stones that resonate emotionally or aesthetically
A well-curated collection balances emotional value and market value.
Bijoux offers a curated selection of:
•Precious and semi-precious gemstones
•Available as rough or faceted stones
•Sourced for bespoke jewellery or standalone purchase
•Chosen for quality, character and ethical consideration
Availability varies, as each stone is selected individually rather than mass stocked.
Our process is personal and transparent:
1.We discuss your intention — collection, investment, or jewellery
2.We present suitable gemstones
3.You receive guidance on value, rarity and use
4.Stones can be purchased loose or set into bespoke jewellery
This allows your purchase to align with your story, budget and goals.
Some gems do increase in value over time, particularly when:
•They are rare and untreated
•Global demand grows
•Supply becomes more limited
However, gemstones are best viewed as a long-term hold, not short-term speculation.
Start with:
•One exceptional stone
•A classic, timeless setting
•A clear understanding of why you’re buying it
From there, your collection can grow organically — stone by stone, story by story.
Yes. Private individuals do not need a licence to own gemstones.
Licensing applies to mining and commercial trading, not ownership. At Bijoux, we prioritise ethical sourcing, transparency and responsible suppliers wherever possible.
Consistency usually comes from global recognition and limited supply.
